as a girl with New York Fashion week being on my “list of things to do before i die” (i mean cause it NYFW)
i literally jumped at the chance to sit down with and talk to the founders and owners of Switch.
i am always eye gawking at designer collections like
and then i remember all the bills i have to pay
and how my adult life has exactly panned out where i can
hit rodeo dr.
or downtown manhattan
and shop til i drop
with no remorse in sight.
not unless i want to end up with my lights off
eviction notice on my door
and well, you get the picture lol
so imagine how excited i was to discover joinswitch.com who provides everyday women
like you and I
to be adorned in such fashionable jewelry
but at reasonable prices.
i mean really?
this is like the answer to every #girlboss dream
and i am sure our husbands will be just as grateful
you know, for obvious reasons.
so check out my interview with adriel and elliott darvish of joinswitch dot com:
so paint me a picture, were you sitting at home with your friends brainstorming ideas for what I call a “corporate america” exit strategy? or were you swooning over pieces like most of us do dreaming about the day you could walk in and shop without doing the “i don’t want it to be obvious i’m checking the price tag” trick people like me do? like where did the idea come from?
adriel and elliott darvish: our mom has been a jewelry designer for over 10 years so we’ve always been aware of how expensive nice jewelry is and how it’s an industry ripe for disruption.
at the same time, as millennials, we also took stock of how the sharing economy is transforming so many aspects of our life from airbnb to even Spotify and Netflix–people don’t care to buy music or movies anymore. streaming is about the experience over ownership, which is what Switch is about as well.
switch is all about being able to enjoy these aspirational pieces without worrying about the price.
for some people it’s about being able to wear brands that they otherwise wouldn’t even consider buying and for others it’s about taking away the stress associated with shopping for jewelry.
no more guilt or buyer’s remorse–as soon as you’re sick of your piece or if you have any regrets, you can switch it for something else.
right now I see that the site is geared towards women? will it remain that way or will you add men’s as the collections grow?
adriel and elliott darvish: yes, the site is geared towards women and we think it will remain that way for the foreseeable future.
women tend to accessorize more and we think Switch is sort of like playing dress-up but for adults.
sidenote: dress up for adults? (how cute is that!)
one of the great things about Switch is that it’s the perfect gift, and we’ve had several men buy it for their significant others, sisters, daughters or mothers so that’s been a pleasant surprise.
a men’s collection is definitely possible down the line, but for now we want to focus on women and creating the best possible experience for them before moving on to anything else.
who are some of your favorite designers? and what pieces would you recommend from their collection?
adriel and elliott darvish: we really love Miansai, which is a relatively new brand. t
heir cuffs are incredible–modern and simple, yet very chic.
we literally love every one of their cuffs in every color and we’ll be adding more but the modern screw cuff in rose gold, which we carry, is probably the favorite.
(which is gorgeous by the way, check it out here)
we may be a little biased but we also love our private label Switch pieces
which have also been our most popular.
we put a lot of thought into the Switch collection
which is refined yet edgy.
the earrings are made with 18k gold and diamonds.
(you know what they say, diamonds are a girl’s best friend)
its 2016, this your baby.; what are you hoping to accomplish over the next year?
adriel and elliott darvish: 2016 is huge. We’ve already been thrilled with the response we’ve gotten since we’ve launched and because we’re still in beta, the rest of the year will be all about improvement and growth.
we look at every day as an opportunity to improve Switch, from every aspect, to create the best possible experience for our members.
that’s why we’re constantly soliciting feedback and asking members how we can improve their experience.
pretend I’m a first time buyer unfamiliar with some of the designers, what pieces would you recommend to start with?
adriel and elliott darvish: jewelry is all about personal taste, so I wouldn’t try steering you in a particular direction.
i would, however, suggest you go through our collection and see which pieces speak to you–you’ll feel it in your gut!
what is the overall goal of Switch? and what can your customers expect from you and your team?
adriel and elliott darvish: our goal is to make designer jewelry accessible to as many women as possible.
shopping for a piece of designer jewelry has always felt like a big commitment for most people but, we don’t think it needs to be that way.
it’s all about creating a fun yet comfortable experience.
we try to provide unmatched customer service by speaking with each of our members individually and trying to satisfy all of their needs.
how often can we expect new pieces or new collections to be added?
adriel and elliott darvish: we’re constantly on the look out for more pieces–literally, daily.
so you can expect new pieces to be added at least once a week, sometimes more.
switch offers plans ranging from $29 to $69 in which you will receive 1 to 3 pieces respectively.
and just like any other subscription based company
when you are over it and want something new
simply send it back
and they’ll be replaced with other pieces
hand selected by you.
because they are constantly updating the database
both, adriel and elliott
suggest updating your favorites list
now of course you know i couldn’t find out about such an ingenious company
and not dip and dabble just a little
so here is a sneak peek of what i received in the mail:
i received a ring and bracelet duo from chloe’
as well as a leather cuff bracelet from ysl
(the gold cuff is mine and was added for aesthetic purposes)
go ahead and place your first order
you know you want to
for $15 off your first month’s box.
tell them Brie sent you!
